Arguably the most well-known VR game right now is Beat Saber. The team behind Rock Band, Harmonix Music Systems, took the rhythm game, VR concept in a different direction. In Audica, users shoot flying disks with blasters to the beat of music. Points are scored based on how close to the center of disk the laser hits and how well timed the shot was. Along with shooting, players must hit the disco balls that fly toward them. The game supports different environments, blasters, and sound effects. Songs include music from deadmau5, AfroJack, and Zedd, with plans to add more music from Ariana Grande, Billie Eilish, and Post Malone. Currently, the game is in early access and is planned to release before the end of the year. Finally, 82% of Steam users have reviewed the game favorably. With a lot of VR games currently developed by startups and indie developers, it is interesting to see an established company through their hat into the ring.
